Purple Rain to be revamped as first Tuareg-language movie

Prince’s Purple Rain movie is coming back to the screen as the first Tuareg-language film. Music archivist Christopher Kirkley has launched a Kickstarter.com campaign to fund the project, titled Akounak Tedalat Taha Tazoughai (Rain the Color of Blue With a Little Red in It).
Kirkley plans to direct the film, which will star Tuareg musician Mdou Moctar, according to Pitchfork.com.
The movie is scheduled to start shooting in Niger next month (Feb14).
Tuaregs are an ethnic group of nomadic people in the Sahara desert.
