Quentin Tarantino: ‘My Star Trek movie will be R-rated’

Quentin Tarantino has promised to make his Star Trek movie “R-rated” and full of cursing if it gets made.

The 56-year-old Oscar-winning director was linked to a new Star Trek film earlier this year (2019), with People reporting Paramount had assembled a team of writers to work on a screenplay after he pitched the feature.

And when asked during an interview with Empire magazine if his Star Trek film would include profanities, Quentin replied with an emphatic: “Oh yeah!”

“It’s an R-rated movie,” he added. “If I do it, it’ll be R-rated.”

Asked where the project is currently at, Quentin explained: “There’s a script that exists for it now. I need to weigh in on it, but I haven’t been able to do that yet.”

The last movie in the Star Trek franchise was Star Trek Beyond back in 2016. It’s unclear whether the cast for that film, which stars Chris Pine as Captain Kirk and Zachary Quinto as Spock, would return for the next installment.

Speaking to Slash Film about the Star Trek rumors last month, Quentin said: “It’s a very big possibility. I haven’t been dealing with those guys for a while cause I’ve been making my movie. But we’ve talked about a story and a script. The script has been written and when I emerge my head like Punxsutawney Phil, post-Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, we’ll pick up talking about it again.”

Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Brad Pitt, and Margot Robbie, is due for release in August.
