Quincy Jones to honour Cheryl Boone Isaacs at pre-Oscars event

Quincy Jones will present Cheryl Boone Isaacs with a special award at an upcoming event.
Isaacs has been a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) since 1987, and was elected as president in 2013 and once again in 2015, becoming the first African-American woman to hold the position.
The film marketing executive has been praised for her work in promoting diversity in Hollywood and will be presented with the inaugural Legacy Award at Icon Mann’s annual pre-Oscar dinner to be held on 27 February (18) at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel in Los Angeles.
Jones, who is the dinner’s host committee chairman, will bestow the award to Isaacs in recognition of her achievements in improving inclusivity at the Academy, while Common and Halle Berry will also pair for a special scholarship presentation.
Other guests will include A-listers such as Mary J. Blige, who is nominated for the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress for her performance in Mudbound, as well as David Oyelowo, Terrence Howard, Will Smith and his wife Jada Pinkett Smith.
Cedric the Entertainer will welcome and entertain attendees including Raphael Saadiq – who co-wrote Oscar-nominated Mudbound song Mighty River alongside Blige, as well as the film’s director Dee Rees.
Lee Daniels, Reginald Hudlin, and John Singleton are some of the other directors featured on the guest list of the exclusive event.
This will be the sixth annual pre-Oscar dinner to be hosted by Icon Mann, which is a lifestyle platform dedicated to honouring the achievements of cross-industry influencers, encompassing entertainment, technology, the arts, politics, finance, and education.
