R. Kelly has been sued by a man for allegedly having an affair with his wife.

Kenny Bryant filed the lawsuit against the Ignition singer on 21 April (17) in a Jackson, Mississippi circuit court.

In the lawsuit, obtained by local outlet WAPT, Bryant claims his estranged wife Asia Childress had a relationship with Kelly but told him it had ended prior to the couple’s wedding in 2012, but later that year the romance resumed after Childress attended one of Kelly’s concerts.

“Each time R. Kelly would have a concert in a nearby state, Childress would disappear to unite with her lover,” the lawsuit said. “Time after time, R. Kelly cuckolded Bryant, with blatant disregard for Bryant’s and Childress‘ vows.”

Bryant claims his wife convinced him to move to Atlanta, Georgia for “her career” but that “the ulterior motive of which was to foster her adulterous relationship with R. Kelly.” Bryant says he was unable to find “profitable employment” after the move, which was “financially ruinous” for him.

Childress has filed for divorce, and Bryant believes this is so she can continue her affair.

Bryant has requested undisclosed compensatory and punitive damages and hopes to “punish (R. Kelly), make an example of him to others, and to deter him and other similarly-situated defendants from engaging in adulterous conduct in the future, in the service of public interest.”
