Radcliffe defends Del Rey over SNL performance

Radcliffe showed off his comedic timing during his hosting duties on the legendary sketch show, and Del Rey provided the musical interlude, but her lacklustre performances of Video Games and Blue Jeans left viewers far from impressed, and many, like rocker/actress Juliette Lewis, took to the Internet to question her talent and credentials for appearing.

Now Radcliffe has spoken out in defence of the young star, and insists he can’t believe how quickly the public have turned on her.

He tells the BBC, “It was unfortunate that people seemed to turn on her so quickly. I also think people are making it about things other than the performance.

“If you read what people are saying about her online, it’s all about her past and her family and stuff that’s nobody else’s business. I don’t think it (her performance) warranted anywhere near that reaction.”

Del Rey, real name Elizabeth Grant, is the daughter of multi-millionaire tycoon Rob Grant, and has come under fire for her privileged background and top-class private education.
