Rapper Pras developing TV show about rap cops

Rapper Pras is developing a TV series about a real-life New York Police Department division focused on investigating crimes in the hip-hop community.
The show will be inspired by the Rap Intelligence Unit, which was formed in the wake of the murders of the Notorious B.I.G. and Tupac Shakur in the mid-1990s. It will centre on a police officer who goes undercover as record label executive.
Pras will executive produce the untitled project, according to Variety.
“The idea for this project was born out of my own experiences as an artist and hearing about the experiences that others had with the RUI,” a statement from the former Fugees star reads. “We’re excited to develop a show that will not only entertain but inform fans about the world of hip-hop.”
