Record executive Polly Anthony dies

Former record label president Polly Anthony has died. The one time boss of Epic and Geffen records lost her battle with pancreatic cancer on Sunday (29Sep13).
Starting her career as an assistant at CBS Records in 1978, Anthony worked her way up the ladder, first as president of Epic’s 550 Music, home of artists including Mandy Moore and Ben Folds Five, before taking the top job Geffen Records in 2004.
After hearing the news, her close friend, songwriter Diane Warren, wrote on her Facebook.com page, “My dear friend and sister by choice, Polly Anthony has passed away. I am heartbroken for her family and those of us lucky enough to know this amazing bada** loyal protective and fierce woman warrior who I was lucky to have in my life all these years. There will b (be) a hole forever in it now. I love U (you). RIP dear Polly.”
Sharon Osbourne paid her respects on Twitter, writing, “So sad to hear about the passing of Polly Anthony. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family. Much love and respect.”
