Reese Witherspoon honoured with special acting prize

The Walk The Line Oscar winner attended an event at the city’s Ritz-Carlton Hotel, where she was presented with The Gene Siskel Film Center’s Renaissance Award by The Descendants director Alexander Payne.

A spokesperson for the annual ceremony says, “Reese Witherspoon is truly a Renaissance woman, demonstrated by her wide range of memorable roles in such varied films as Pleasantville, Cruel Intentions, Election, and the Legally Blonde films.

“Her extraordinary performance as June Carter Cash in Walk The Line earned her the 2006 Academy Award for Best Actress, a BAFTA, Golden Globe Award, Screen Actors Guild Award, New York Film Critics Award, Broadcast Film Critics Award, People’s Choice Award in addition to 11 other honours.”
