REM guitarist Peter Buck denied five charges Tuesday related to an alleged “air rage” incident on April 21 on a British Airways flight from Seattle to London’s Heathrow Airport.
Buck, 44, arrived at Isleworth Crown Court in west London with his wife and pleaded not guilty to two assault charges, criminal damage, being drunk on an aircraft and disobeying an aircraft captain, Reuters reports.
He was arrested after allegedly assaulting two cabin crewmembers and was held in custody at Heathrow Police Station before appearing at the Uxbridge Magistrates Court in west London on April 23. A jury will try him at a later date, BBC News reported.
Buck, 44, has publicly apologized for his behavior on the flight, admitting he was embarrassed by his actions.
REM, co-founded by Buck in 1980, has sold an estimated 40 million records worldwide, having released 12 albums over the years. Among their most popular singles are “Losing My Religion,” “Shiny Happy People,” and “Everybody Hurts.”
