Remy Ma reconciles with Fat Joe

Incarcerated rapper Remy Ma has reconciled with former Terror Squad member Fat Joe months before her release from prison. The Lean Back star, real name Reminisce Smith, has been behind bars since the 2008 conviction for shooting Makeda Barnes-Joseph in the abdomen during an altercation in 2007.
Before she was locked up, Ma had a falling out with Fat Joe after her debut album, There’s Something About Remy, failed to garner impressive sales numbers.
Frustrated with the record’s performance and lack of promotion, she split from Joe, Terror Squad, and Universal Records, and began a war of words with Joe in the process.
However, in a new interview with Billboard, Ma reveals her time in prison has changed her outlook on life, especially her relationship with her former friend, Joe.
She confesses, “I just recently spoke to him and we had a wonderful conversation. It started off a little awkward. We’re both like, ‘Just say what you want to say.’ We were both holding on to our egos. ‘Well, what do you want to say?’ ‘No, what do you want to say?’ We finally let it go.”
“He said, ‘I still think you’re the dopest (best) female rapper ever.’ I’m like, ‘Really?!’ When you put egos and pride aside, and be the real people that you are it works out… I told him that when I do go home, I’m going to make it my business that we talk more.”
She adds, “I have a new outlook on a lot of things. I’m ready to see the world with these new pair of eyes of mine… I’m excited to get back into the game and make it a little bit more interesting.
“There’s a history of artists that go to jail and when they get home they’re not all that or even do anything. I’m not falling into that category… I want to come home and make an impact. I feel like my time was cut short and I didn’t get to blossom where I wanted to be in my career.
The 33 year old has been granted an early release from the Bedford Hills Correctional Facility for Women in New York and will be home this July (14), according to her husband, fellow rapper Papoose, whom she wed in 2008 while behind bars.
