Remy Ma set for prison release in July

Rapper Remy Ma will walk free from prison at the end of July (14) after serving six years for a 2007 shooting incident. The Lean Back star, real name Reminisce Smith, was jailed for eight years in May, 2008 after she was found guilty of shooting Makeda Barnes-Joseph in the abdomen during an altercation in July, 2007.
Remy Ma, who was charged with assault, weapons possession and attempted coercion, maintained her innocence throughout the trial and twice attempted to appeal the conviction.
The 33 year old has been granted an early release and will be home this summer (14), according to her husband, fellow rapper Papoose.
He announced the news during a concert in Allentown, Pennsylvania on Saturday (08Feb14), telling the audience, “They locked my b**ch up for six years, but guess what? July she coming home (sic).”
Remy Ma, who wed Papoose while behind bars in 2008, has been serving her sentence at the Bedford Hills Correctional Facility for Women in New York after her transfer from the state’s notorious Riker’s Island prison.
