With a script from Tom Edge, creator and writer of Netflix show Lovesick, Judy will recount the entertainer’s five-week run at the Talk of the Town nightclub, as well as her deteriorating health, relationships with her children, romance with her soon-to-be fifth husband Mickey Deans, and battles with management.

Following a lifelong struggle with drugs and alcohol, Garland died from a barbiturate overdose, at the age of 47, in 1969.

The film will also feature some of Garland’s best-known songs, and will be produced by BAFTA winner David Livingstone.

Zellweger, 48, previously showed off her singing ability in 2002 musical Chicago, for which she received a Best Actress Oscar nomination for her portrayal of Roxie Hart.

She will next be seen onscreen in drama Same Kind of Different as Me, and is filming scenes for upcoming film Berlin, I Love You.
