Stephen stars as returning character Caliban, taking on the role previously played by other actors for the first time, while Richard stars as newbie Dr. Rice in the mutant movie, with the stars taking to Twitter to share their joy at Logan’s impressive box office takings.

“Who knew @Erodriguez & @StephenMerchant on our last day shooting #LOGAN would be in a $237 million opening weekend,” Richard captioned a shot of him, Stephen and actress Elizabeth Rodriguez.

“I know! Remember how we thought it would make $235 million AT MOST? So dumb. @RichardEGrant @Erodriguez,” Stephen replied.
Logan hit theatres around the globe last week (ends05Mar17), and instantly took the top spot in America.
Ricky Gervais’ old writing partner Stephen has been inundated with praise since the movie’s release, and thanked fans for their support.
“Thanks to everyone sending compliments about my turn in #Logan. Much appreciated. And makes those 3 hours in make-up each day worthwhile,” he posted.
The pair are next working together on Fighting With My Family, which Stephen is writing and directing, based on the true story of WWE star Paige and her family of professional wrestlers.
