Richard Shepard fooled by Emilia Clarke’s dark hair

Director Richard Shepard was left red-faced after failing to recognise Game Of Thrones star Emilia Clarke when she auditioned for a role in his new movie Dom Hemingway, because she was not wearing her character’s trademark blonde wig. The actress plays dragon queen Daenerys Targaryen in the popular fantasy drama, based on the books by George R. R. Martin, but her natural brunette locks threw Shepard completely off when they first met.
He tells the New York Post, “I love Game of Thrones. (But) I didn’t recognise her because she didn’t have her wig. I’m literally like, ‘What have you been doing lately?’ And she (said), ‘Oh, I’ve been doing this show.’ (I was like), ‘Oh? What’s the show?'”
