Richie Sambora weathers the storm for South Korea festival

Rocker Richie Sambora braved heavy rain and lightning on Sunday (10Aug14) as he performed at the Citybreak Festival in Seoul, South Korea during a thunderstorm. The former Bon Jovi guitarist was determined to hit the stage despite the inclement weather, and even agreed to shorten his set after the rain delay to make sure festival organisers would not be penalised for breaking local curfew laws.
He played solo tracks like Every Road Leads Home To You and Nowadays, and delighted fans with Bon Jovi classics Lay Your Hands On Me, Wanted Dead or Alive and Livin’ On A Prayer.
He says, “I travelled thousands of miles across the globe to perform for these fans and I wasn’t going to let them down. With over two hours of rain and everyone wanting to cancel the show, we found that right time to take the stage and rocked it out making sure nobody left disappointed.”
Sambora also made sure to thank the audience for sticking around to catch his set.
Taking to his Twitter.com blog after the show, he wrote, “I wanna thank my friends in Seoul who weathered the storm to wait for me…so amazing. I ‘ll never forget u (sic).”
Sambora, who is currently on a solo trek of the Far East, walked out on Bon Jovi’s world tour in April, 2013 to spend more time with his daughter.
