Ricky Gervais joins campaign to end animal lab secrecy

Funnyman Ricky Gervais has thrown his weight behind a campaign to end the secrecy surrounding animal testing laboratories in the U.K. Members of pressure group the National Anti-Vivisection Society (NAVS) are calling for an end to a “secrecy clause” which makes it illegal for anyone to make public the details of animal experiments.
More than 20 stars, including actress Joanna Lumley, funnyman Eddie Izzard, and former model Twiggy, have already signed up to the campaign, and now The Office creator Gervais has joined them.
Government officials are reviewing restrictions under Section 24 of the Animals (Scientific Procedures) Act, and NAVS president Jan Creamer says, “The situation as it stands is untenable. Please join the NAVS campaign to end animal experiment secrecy by responding to the Government’s public consultation before June 13th.”
