Acting legend Robert De Niro is set to be honoured in New York City for his dedication to Manhattan. The Raging Bull star was born in Greenwich Village and has been an active member of the community ever since, starting the Tribeca Film Festival in 2002 to revitalise Manhattan following the 9/11 terrorist attacks.
He is to be feted for his support of the area at the Borough of Manhattan Community College Foundation Gala on Tuesday (13May14). College president Antonio Perez says the actor has been chosen as a recipient of the honour because he is a “loyal champion of Lower Manhattan”.
The event will take place at 4 World Trade Center, part of the newly rebuilt office complex.
