Robert Hughes: ‘Sex attacks never happened’

Australian actor Robert Hughes has denied abusing five young girls, telling a court the alleged incidents of groping, kissing and flashing never happened. The former Hey Dad..! star is accused of a series of sex attacks on girls as young as six, including allegations he abused one child on the set of the hit sitcom and exposed himself to another on a beach.
He is currently on trial at a court in Sydney, and on Thursday (20Mar14) he took the stand to deny all the claims against him, insisting none of the incidents happened.
When asked if he had molested a girl on set during his time in Hey Dad..!, the 65 year old told the court, “No, I did not.”
Hughes admitted he often changed his outfit in front of other cast members during filming but insisted it was not unusual for a TV show, and he also denied being confronted by the mother of one alleged victim, adding, “That never happened.”
He also insisted claims he repeatedly molested a girl during sleepovers at his home in Sydney’s North Shore were false.
Hughes, who was extradited from Britain back to his native country in 2012, denies 11 charges of sexual and indecent assault on five girls aged six to 15 between 1985 and 1990.
The trial continues.
