The former Hey Dad..! star was detained in London by police in August (12) over allegations he indecently assaulted five young children in Australia between 1985 and 1990.
He was released on bail, fitted with an electronic monitoring anklet, and ordered to stay away from children under the age of 16, and, on Tuesday (20Nov12), U.K. officials agreed to hand over the actor to executives Down Under, where he will now face charges.
Hughes, who has maintained his innocence throughout the ordeal, now has 14 days to appeal the ruling before he is flown home.
His lawyer Robert Katz says, “Rather than continue to suffer a trial by media, my client is keen to defend the allegations which he vehemently denies.”
The actor faces up to 10 years in prison if convicted.
