Roberts will play the Evil Queen, opposite Lily Collins and Armie Hammer, in the project, which until now has been called Snow White.
The film will be one of two major 2012 movies inspired by the good-versus-evil fairytale – Kristen Stewart, Charlize Theron and Chris Hemsworth will star in Snow White and the Huntsman.
