Rock legends confirmed for ‘Desert Trip’ festival

Rock superstars Paul McCartney, Bob Dylan, and The Rolling Stones are among the acts confirmed for a new California music festival.
The legends will play gigs at the Empire Polo Club – the site of the Coachella and Stagecoach festivals – from 7 to 9 October (16).
Other acts scheduled to perform at the event, called Desert Trip, are Neil Young, Roger Waters and The Who.
Plans for the festival were officially announced in a post on Facebook, which linked to a website promoting Desert Trip.
The weekend will begin with Friday performances from The Rolling Stones and Bob Dylan, while McCartney and Young will headline Saturday and Roger Waters and The Who will close out the event on Sunday.
Tickets for the new festival, which go on sale on Monday (09May16), will set fans back between from $399 (£274.09) and $1599 (£1098.61), while single day passes will be available for $199 (£136.70) each.
Reports suggest each act could net as much as $7 million (£4.8 million) for participating in the event, staged by bosses at Goldenvoice and AEG Live, the companies behind the Coachella music festival.
