ROLE CALL: Hanks & Wilson’s ‘Wedding’

Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson are already married, but it’s not stopping them from planning another “Wedding.” Hanks and his Playtone Co. partner, Gary Goetzman, will produce “My Big Fat Wedding” with Wilson, Daily Variety says. Scheduled to begin shooting Sept. 11, the film is based on Nia Vardalos’ autobiographical one-woman show.

Vardalos wrote the script and will also star in the film, which will be directed by Joel Zwick. The romantic comedy centers on a young Greek-American woman who struggles to get her family to accept her non-Greek fiance.

Dermot Mulroney SUBURBAN RENEWAL: Dermot Mulroney of “My Best Friend’s Wedding” fame has joined the likes of Glenn Close and Patricia Clarkson in the independent feature “The Safety of Objects.” Based on the stories by author A.M. Holmes, the film follows the trials and tribulations of four suburban families. Rose Troche (“Go Fish“) will direct.
