HOLLYWOOD, Aug. 22, 2000 – We pity the fool who ain’t pumped up about the return of “The A-Team.”

Variety says today that Fox 2000 will do an updated movie remake of the old TV series about four ex-Army commandos on the lam.

The flick has yet to be cast, but according to the trade paper, plans are for a 2001 release.

THE ‘QUIET’ TYPES: Brendan Fraser (“The Mummy”) and Michael Caine will probably star in “The Quiet American,” adapated from Graham Greene’s novel about Vietnam, The Hollywood Reporter says.

A FIENNES ‘KILLING’: Variety reports that Joseph Fiennes (“Shakespeare In Love”) might star opposite Heather Graham in “Killing Me Softly,” the first English-language film from Chinese director Chen Kaige.

BEING ‘SIMONE’: Jason Schwartzman (“Rushmore”) will join the cast of “Simone,” a flick about a passe producer starring Al Pacino, the Reporter says. Catherine Keener (“Being John Malkovich”) might also join the project.

GRAMMER TRIPPING: Daily Variety reports that Kelsey Grammer (“Frasier’s”) will produce a net show called “Gary the Rat” exclusively for Mediatrip.com.
