Ron Howard leads tributes to producer Allison Shearmur

Ron Howard has led tributes to late film producer Allison Shearmur.
The 54-year-old died on Friday (19Jan18) at UCLA Medical Center following complications from lung cancer, according to Variety.
Shearmur had a long career in Hollywood, and worked on several big movies including Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, The Hunger Games franchise and the upcoming Solo: A Star Wars Story.
Ron Howard, who directed the Han Solo spin-off movie, was among those paying tribute to the producer, calling her death a “tragic loss”.
“My heart goes out to Alli’s family whom she adored,” he wrote on Twitter on Friday. “Alli was an important colleague & friend over many years who never backed away from any challenge but at all times was both powerfully effective & graciously humanistic. RIP.”
Shearmur also earned producing credits on films including Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, Disney’s live-action Cinderella and Nerve, as well as serving as a co-producer on the upcoming Chaos Walking, which stars Tom Holland and Daisy Ridley.
This Is Us star Milo Ventimiglia posted a black and white snap of Allison on Twitter, and wrote: “Allison Shearmur so much talent and excellent taste. R.I.P.” He also shared a news article with his followers on her death on the social media site.
I Am Number Four director D.J. Caruso also paid tribute to the producer on Twitter. “#AllisonShearmur and I developed 2 projects together. She was brilliant, supportive, kind and as passionate a producer that I have ever come across. Prayers for her and her family. R.I.P. We lost an amazing woman. Sad day,” he added.
Allison is survived by her husband, composer Ed Shearmur, daughter Imogen and son Anthony.
