Rose Parade bosses won’t replace war hero Zamperini as Grand Marshall

Death hasn’t cost the war hero Louis Zamperini his role as Grand Marshall of next year’s (15) Rose Parade in Pasadena, California. Tournament of Roses bosses have decided to honour the 97-year-old subject of Angelina Jolie’s new movie Unbroken, an Olympic athlete-turned-World War II hero, at the parade.
Zamperini, who died on 2 July (14), was chosen as the 2015 Grand Marshall in May (14).
Tournament of Roses president Richard Chinen says, “Louis Zamperini was and will continue to be the embodiment of the 2015 Tournament of Roses theme, Inspiring Stories.”
Zamperini’s life story inspired the bestselling book Unbroken: A World War II Story of Survival, Resilience and Redemption and a movie adaptation, directed by Jolie, will be released at Christmas (Dec14).
