Russell Peters and Bryan Adams replace Michael Buble as Juno Awards hosts

Actor Russell Peters and singer Bryan Adams have stepped in to replace Michael Buble as the hosts of the 2017 Juno Awards next month (Apr17).
The Canadian singer dropped out of hosting the prizegiving after his three-year-old son Noah was diagnosed with cancer last year (16). Peters previously hosted the awards gala in 2008 and 2009, while Adams has been the recipient of 18 Junos.
“Third time’s a charm!,” a statement from Peters reads, “and who better to share the stage with than Bryan Adams?! I’m actually really excited to be back, and looking so forward to making the 2017 Juno Awards a memorable one.”
“I’m honoured to be co-hosting this year’s JUNO AWARDS alongside Russell Peters,” Adams adds. “We have an incredible music community in Canada and this is the night we celebrate its success.”
The Juno Awards will take place on 2 April (17) in Ottawa. Shawn Mendes, Alessia Cara, Sarah McLachlan, A Tribe Called Red, and the Arkells will perform at the ceremony.
Buble and his wife, Luisana Lopilato, confirmed the sad news of their son’s diagnosis in November (16), after it was first reported in the La Nacion publication in her native Argentina.
Luisana’s sister Daniela subsequently revealed Noah is battling liver cancer. He began chemotherapy treatment in the U.S. in a bid to shrink the tumour.
The devastating diagnosis prompted Michael to cancel various appearances, including a hosting gig at the BRIT Awards in February (17). He was replaced by Demot O’Leary and Emma Willis, who paid tribute to the singer during the ceremony. Buble and model Luisana are also parents to son Elias, who celebrated his first birthday on 22 January (17).
