Sam Worthington is tipped as next James Bond

Craig is currently shooting scenes for his third outing as the suave superspy in Skyfall, which is due for release in 2014, and shows no signs of retiring from the role.

But when he eventually moves on from the 007 franchise, Avatar actor Worthington – who was born in Britain but grew up in Australia – is hot favourite to take over the coveted part, followed by English actor Tom Hardy and Shame star Michael Fassbender.

A spokesman for bookmaker William Hill, which drew up the odds, says, “Sam apparently auditioned for Casino Royale and has proven his action hero mettle in Avatar and Clash/Wrath of the Titans. The only downside is that he is not English.”
