Samuel L. Jackson: ‘Oscars buzz won’t validate my success’

The actor has received plenty of critical acclaim for his role as a slave in Quentin Tarantino’s Western Django Unchained, but he was snubbed from the Academy Awards shortlist when the nominations were announced.

Jackson, who previously landed an Oscars nod for his turn in 1994’s Pulp Fiction, is adamant the snub doesn’t upset him.

When asked if he’s bothered about awards, he says, “No, not particularly. I’ve had a pretty good career. I don’t think it will validate my stature in Hollywood one way or another.

“I’ve done some pretty interesting things, and it’s been a long and rich career. It’s definitely not going to help my box office record!”
