Sarah Jessica Parker will sometimes “discreetly” return her husband Matthew Broderick’s Christmas gifts.
The actress built up a reputation for her glamorous personal style while portraying fashionista Carrie Bradshaw in TV series Sex and the City, and has since fronted campaigns for the likes of Gap and Jordache Jeans.
But due to her high profile in the fashion community, her partner of more than two decades has now revealed that she is very difficult to buy presents for.
“It’s tricky. She’s very fashionable and people give her things – she has a lot of stuff,” said Matthew during an appearance on The Late Late Show with James Corden on Tuesday night (05Dec17). “It’s hard, and every now and then I will (buy her a gift), and see it go back (to the store), discreetly.”
No matter what the gift is, Matthew has also discovered that he gets the most brownie points when he also writes a heartfelt note.
“Sometimes I do very well. What she really likes is a note, a nice note. She loves a note, all the things around Christmas, all the traditions (are) what she likes, more than the presents, she’s not a big present person,” the 55-year-old shared.
While style maven Sarah, 52, may be difficult to buy for, Matthew claims to be the opposite.
“I don’t know what to get people, sometimes I do. I sure like getting presents, I’ll tell you that much,” he laughed.
