Actress Sarah Paulson was moved to tears by the sweet tribute Cate Blanchett wrote for her introduction into Time magazine’s 100 Most Influential People list.

The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story star was celebrated by her pal in the publication’s annual Time 100 issue, in which Cate heaped praise on her “unique and unboxable” Carol co-star, who she also worked with in the forthcoming Ocean’s Eight movie.

Cate went on to call Sarah a “rare pearl” who is “at the forefront of a generation of women who are changing the landscape of the film and television industry”.

She continued, “When I first met her, on the set of Carol, I was floored by her buoyancy, her irreverence, her left-field sense of humor and her devotion to her craft. You enter a scene with Sarah and it’s game on. She brings with her, in work as in life, the sense that anything is possible. Anything.”

The gushing piece left Sarah speechless, and she was so touched, she broke down in tears.
“I didn’t know that was happening,” she told WWD.com. “When it (the tribute) came out one of my publicists sent it to me – I cried.”

“I e-mailed her saying, ‘It’s one thing to be included in this list to begin with, but then to have an actor that I admire so deeply who I also consider my friend, who is somebody whose work actually makes me want to act, and is so inspiring,’ the things she wrote about me… it was a very big ‘pinch me’ moment,”

Sarah continued. “She wrote me back a hilarious e-mail basically saying, ‘Don’t you worry, it was my pleasure.’

“She’s somebody I’ve always admired… It was a very nice, early, off-season Christmas present.”
