Baio campaigned for the actor-turned-politician during his younger years, and when the former California governor died in 2004, the actor was one of the only few celebrities to receive an invitation to attend his memorial
He tells FoxNews.com, “I campaigned for him a long time ago. When he passed away I wanted to go pay my respects. A producer (I knew)… was very friendly with the Reagans and I called him and said that I wanted to go (to the funeral).
“He said, ‘Why don’t you write a letter to Mrs. Reagan?’ So I wrote a letter and faxed it over and she said, ‘We’d love to have you.'”
