Scott Ian: ‘AC/DC should quit if Brian Johnson can’t come back’

Anthrax rocker Scott Ian has urged AC/DC to call it a day if Brian Johnson is too ill to return to the stage.
The singer was forced to pull out of shows in February (16) when doctors told him he would be risking permanent hearing loss if he continued with the band’s Rock or Bust North American tour.
The group rescheduled a series of gigs and last week (ends01Apr16) it emerged Axl Rose was a frontrunner to replace Johnson for the remainder of AC/DC’s U.S. dates.
Guitarist Ian has now waded into the drama to offer his thought about AC/DC’s future – and it’s clear he’s not convinced Axl is the right man for the job.
“I haven’t heard Axl Rose sing in a long, long time,” Scott told Brazilian journalist Luiz Cesar Pimentel of the news portal R7. “Can he sing AC/DC songs? I don’t know. I suppose AC/DC must think so, if it’s true.
“I wish they would get Angry Anderson, the guy who was in Rose Tattoo. I don’t know if Angry Anderson is still even singing anymore. But I always thought, in 1980, he was the guy. I didn’t know who Brian Johnson was yet, but I knew Angry Anderson in 1980, and when (AC/DC frontman) Bon (Scott) died, I was hoping Angry Anderson was gonna join AC/DC, ’cause he was from Australia and he sounded like a guy who should be in AC/DC. But then Brian came and Brian was great.”
“My personal opinion is, without Brian at this point, I think they should just stop,” Scott added. “I don’t think they need the money. It would be pretty hard to imagine that they still are out there working because they need money.
“It’s just my opinion but I wish… If Brian is done, then I wish the band would stop. That’s just my personal, s**tty opinion.”
