Screenwriter Michael Blake dies

Oscar-winning scriptwriter MICHAEL BLAKE has passed away, aged 69.
He died peacefully on Saturday (02May15) in Tucson, Arizona after a lengthy illness, his manager Daniel Ostroff confirms to The Hollywood Reporter.
Blake is best known for winning the Academy Award and Golden Globe for his script for 1990 drama Dances With Wolves. He adapted it from his own novel of the same name at the request of actor Kevin Costner, who had worked with Blake previously on 1983 movie Stacy’s Knights.
Blake wrote and directed the 1998 movie Winding Stair and was in the process of developing a sequel to Dances With Wolves, The Holy Road, based on his 2001 novel. He was also working on two other screenwriting projects.
