An unaired episode of Game Of Thrones leaked online after it was mistakenly made available by the HBO network’s Spanish arm.
The sixth episode of the hit fantasy show’s seventh season, titled Death is the Enemy, is due to air on Sunday (20Aug17) but was available to HBO Espana and HBO Nordic subscribers for an hour on Tuesday (15Aug17).
“We have learned that the upcoming episode of Game of Thrones was accidentally posted for a brief time on the HBO Nordic and HBO España platforms,” an HBO spokesperson told BuzzFeed News. “The error appears to have originated with a third-party vendor and the episode was removed as soon as it was recognized.”
The latest leak comes after the fourth episode of the current season was allegedly slipped out by contractors working for HBO’s distribution partner Star India. Four men connected to third-party firm Prime Focus Technologies have been arrested in connection with the leak.
Bosses at HBO have also been left reeling by a cyber-attack conducted by hackers who have demanded millions of dollars in ransom money.
The cyber-criminals have leaked episodes of several HBO shows, including returning U.S. comedy Curb Your Enthusiasm, and made confidential information held by the network public.
The information obtained by the hackers includes Game of Thrones scripts and several of the show’s stars’ personal phone numbers.
HBO’s spokesperson confirmed the new leak was not connected to the cyber-attack.
