Selena Gomez wants her voice to shine on new tour

Selena Gomez is planning to tone down her dance routines for her upcoming tour so she can show off her vocal abilities.
The Come and Get It hitmaker is gearing up for her Revival Tour, which kicks off in Las Vegas on 6 May (16), but she reveals her rehearsals have been less about choreography and more about focusing on nailing every note to really put her musical talents on display.
“I just wanna perform,” she told Us Weekly. “I’m not trying to dance as much as I did the last run. I really – I just wanna sing. And I wanna show people that I can sing.”
The 23-year-old’s new trek is her first since 2013’s Stars Dance Tour, which was marred by a number of cancelled shows during the Australian leg in 2014.
She subsequently checked into the Dawn at The Meadows treatment centre in Arizona to seek help for “personal issues”, which was last year (15) revealed to be her lupus diagnosis.
As a result, Selena cannot wait to get out on the road and prove she can hold her own among the best of them.
“I have never cared about a tour as much as I care about this one. I’ve never worked as hard,” she said.
“Every day I start with a workout, I do vocal lessons, I do piano lessons,” she continued. “I go on stage and we map out the whole thing.”
The Revival Tour will keep Selena on the road until the end of the year (16), taking in gigs throughout Asia and Europe after her North American leg concludes in July (16).
Meanwhile, Selena is learning not to take criticism to heart after previously letting nasty comments get her down.
“I think I’ve been doing this long enough to realise that no matter what people perceive of me, I always shine through at the end of the day,” she added to Eonline.com. “So I’ve had a lot of people try to tear me down, but I’m here.
“I’ve always been myself… I’ve been graceful, and I’ve tried to handle myself with as much class, and it’s only because I know how hard I work and I’m not gonna let any of that get to me.”
