Seth Rogen and Jason Segel Once Frightened Director with Gory Bathtub Prank

Seth Rogen and Jason Segel once dreamed up an elaborate prank to scare director Nicholas Stoller.

The actors have been pals since they worked together on TV show Freaks and Geeks back in the late ’90s, and have gone on to co-star in movies such as 2007’s Knocked Up and 2013’s This Is the End.

During an appearance on The Late Late Show with James Corden on Monday night (13Nov17), Seth and Jason denied that they like to pull a lot of pranks on their colleagues during filming, but did detail one occasion where they managed to get up to some mischief.

“One time after (2008 movie) Forgetting Sarah Marshall, Seth and I were hanging out at my house and we invited the director, Nick Stoller, over,” shared Jason. “And we kept feeding him water, trying to get him to go to the bathroom. It took like an hour. Then finally, he’s like, ‘Can I go to the bathroom?’ And we’re like, ‘Yes, you can sir!'”

The pair waited patiently while Nick headed to the bathroom, and weren’t surprised to hear him yell out when he stepped inside.

“He went into the bathroom and we heard a scream of death because Charlie Hunnam was laying in the bathtub covered in fake blood,” explained Jason.

Seth added that he also felt bad for former Sons of Anarchy star Charlie, because he was stuck in the bath for over an hour waiting for Nick to walk in.

“I remember putting him in there being like, ‘See you in five minutes,'” he smiled.

And while Seth and Jason don’t collaborate on movies or pranks that often, the comedy duo knew they’d be lifelong friends from the time of their first meeting on the Freaks and Geeks set.

“We were shooting the pilot and Seth came up and said, ‘Want to see The Matrix?’ And that was it,” added Jason.
