Actress/TV personality Sherri Shepherd is heading to a Los Angeles court on Tuesday morning (26Sep17) to settle a custody battle with her ex-husband.
The Precious star split from her first husband Jeff Tarpley after nine years of marriage in 2010. She was awarded primary custody of their son Jeffrey, now 12, in 2011, and was allowed to move to New York with him so she could co-host talk show The View.
Now Tarpley, who was given visitation rights during this time, has filed new documents asking for joint 50/50 custody of their child following Shepherd’s return to Los Angeles to start new TV show Trial and Error, according to The Blast.
Shepherd reportedly told him she will be filming in Canada for three months for the next season of the show, and he said in his legal papers that he doesn’t want Jeffrey to be looked after by nannies.
Tarpley also wants more child support than the $131 per month he currently receives. He also wants her to pay $10,000 in attorney fees, noting that her income is significantly more than his.
Shepherd has hit back, saying she wanted Tarpley to visit Jeffrey every other weekend and have one overnight stay per week, but her offer was ignored. She added that he has never been responsible for their son’s daily routine and that he doesn’t have a full-time job.
A hearing is set to take place into the issue in Los Angeles on Tuesday.
Shepherd went on a rant about having to pay her two ex-husbands child support in January.
Our life sometimes makes us tough & shapes our character – would hate4 Jeffrey2 go through what I did… hope he gets what took me so long to

“How many ex husbands does it take to get money from a single mom. Two.” she wrote on Twitter. “Sorry for all ex-husband tweets… Never a problem helping ex financially w (with) his son… just wanted a fair decision and not made to pay an amount borne from greed and deception.”
She was previously locked in a bitter custody with her second ex Lamar Sally, from whom she filed for divorce in 2014 while a surrogate was pregnant with their child, Lamar, Jr.
