Shovels & Rope lead Americana Awards nominations

South Carolina duo Shovels & Rope lead the 2013 Americana Music Association Awards nominations after picking up four nods at a ceremony in Los Angeles on Tuesday morning (14May13). Bandmates Michael Trent and Cary Ann Hearst will compete for Best Album, Best Emerging Artist, Best Duo or Group and Best Song trophies at the awards show in September (13).
Buddy Miller, who performed at the nominations announcement, and Emmylou Harris received three nominations each.
The awards will be held at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, Tennessee on 18 September.
Harris is up for Best Artist, Best Album and Best Duo or Group honours for her album collaboration with Rodney Crowell, Old Yellow Moon.
Richard Thompson, JD McPherson and John Fullbright received two nominations each
