Skyliners star Wally Lester dead at 73

Doo-wop star WALLY LESTER has lost his battle with pancreatic cancer at the age of 73.
The original member of the Skyliners passed away on 21 April (15).
As a member of the doo-wop group, Lester enjoyed chart success with songs like Since I Don’t Have You, which was released in 1959.
He was 14 when he joined an early version of the quintet. He was a fixture in the band until 1963, and he reunited with the Skyliners in 1970.
After retiring from music in the mid-1970s, Lester became vice president of haircare company Clairol.
Lester’s former bandmate Jimmy Beaumont marked the singer’s passing with a post on the group’s Facebook page, which reads: “My good buddy Wally Lester passed away… We began touring the country in 1959 with Wally keeping us laughing all the way. I will miss you, but I won’t say goodbye. I’ll just say so long my friend.”
