Slash: ‘Chester Bennington is the perfect replacement for Scott Weiland’

Rocker SLASH has given the new Stone Temple Pilots line-up a big boost by insisting the band sounds great with Linkin Park’s Chester Bennington as frontman. Bennington stepped in to replace fired singer Scott Weiland and made his live debut with Stone Temple Pilots at the KROQ Weenie Roast concert in Los Angeles on 18 May (13).
He will join the band again at the 2013 MusiCares Map Fund Benefit gig in L.A. on Thursday (30May13), when Guns N’ Roses and Velvet Revolver bandmates Slash and Duff McKagan will also step up onstage.
The guitarist now has nothing but praise for Weiland’s replacement after rehearsing with Bennington and the band on Wednesday (29May13).
He tweeted, “I gotta say, it’s a real pleasure playing w/ (with) Dean Deleo. The guitars compliment each other nicely. The whole (Stone Temple Pilots) is great… & the haters are going to hate, but (Chester Bennington) sings the s**t out of the STP songs… Of course, playing with (Duff McKagan) is always awesome.”
Ironically, Slash and McKagan also fired Weiland from their band Velvet Revolver in 2008. They have yet to find a replacement.
