Sophie Turner wasn’t keen on changing hair color for Game of Thrones

Sophie Turner has opened up about her initial apprehensions when she was forced to dye her hair red for Game Of Thrones.

The actress, who plays Sansa Stark on the hit HBO fantasy series, is a natural blonde, and admits she initially struggled making the transition to red when she accepted her life-changing role. However, as her character gained confidence throughout the course of the show, so did Sophie in reality.

“As a redhead, I was originally really shy. I was 13 and changed my hair from blonde to red (for the show) and I was like, ‘Oh my God, this is so weird, this is not me’,” the 22-year-old told People Style.

“But my role in Game of Thrones went from being a very vulnerable and insecure young girl to being a powerful woman who is very confident in herself and very empowered. So whenever I think of my red hair, I relate it to such a strong woman.”

The X-Men: Apocalypse star is now the face of Wella, and credits the haircare brand’s Wellaplex in-salon treatment as the key to her strong healthy hair. She also revealed that her Game of Thrones costar Maisie Williams, who plays her on-screen sister Arya, often steals her hair products, and went to admit that the pair bonded over some embarrassing beauty blunders.

“When we were younger, we would do each other’s makeup really badly as a joke and go out to bars with terribly, sh**ty makeup on and it would be hilarious,” giggled the British star.

Maisie has been confirmed as one of the bridesmaids in Sophie’s upcoming nuptials to DNCE singer Joe Jonas, and the bride-to-be has decided to delay picking out that all-important dress for a very good reason.

“I think fashion is ever-changing. You never know what’s going to be fashionable next year, so I think I am just holding off for now,” she smiled.
