Spider-Man musical performer files negligence lawsuit

An actor in Bono’s stage musical Spiderman: Turn Off The Dark is suing producers after he was left seriously injured while appearing in the production last year (13). Dancer Daniel Curry is accusing the show’s producers and engineering consultants of negligence and insisting they were aware the lift he caught his foot in could be dangerous, according to the New York Times.
In the court papers filed last Tuesday (28Jan14) in New York, Curry alleges no safeguards were put in place and he is now seeking unspecified monetary damages.
Curry has claimed he sustained significant injuries and is no longer able to work in the industry.
A spokesperson for the show’s producers has not commented on the new suit, but maintains the injuries were a result of human error.
In September (13), Curry filed an emergency application in Manhattan Supreme Court to stop special effects bosses from changing the mechanical device while the lawsuit is ongoing.
The production shut down in January (14) after a three-year run.
