Spike Lee and Questlove hosting Prince tribute events

Spike Lee and musician Questlove are leading celebrations to honour Prince and his legacy.
The music icon, 57, was found dead at his Minnesota home on Thursday (21Apr16), and tributes from fans and friends came flooding in honouring him, and now filmmaker Spike and The Roots drummer Questlove are giving fans in New York a chance to mourn together on Thursday night with two separate events.
The Do The Right Thing director is hosting a PRINCE: We Love You Shockadelica Joint “celebration of life” for his friend and collaborator at his 40 Acres film studio in Brooklyn.
Announcing the event on Instagram, Spike told interested fans to “wear something purple” as they “dance, sing and shout to his music”.
Earlier in the day, Spike posted a series of photos on Instagram honouring his pal, writing in one caption, “I Miss My Brother. Prince Was A Funny Cat. Great Sense Of Humor.”
Meanwhile, Questlove, who has long touted his fondness for his friend and idol Prince, will be dedicating an entire DJ set to the Purple Rain star at the Brooklyn Bowl venue during his weekly show.
A spokesperson for the Brooklyn Bowl confirmed that rapper Talib Kweli, who was slated to perform on Thursday night, has since stepped down to allow Questlove to host a Prince music marathon.
