Spike Lee Thanks Fans as ‘She’s Gotta Have It’ Renewed by Netflix

Director Spike Lee has thanked fans for supporting his Netflix show She’s Gotta Have It following its season two renewal.

The Do the Right Thing filmmaker directed all ten 30-minute episodes of the comedy-drama, which is based on his 1986 directorial debut of the same name. The first season premiered on the streaming service on 23 November (17) and Netflix executives have already commissioned more, just over a month later.

Executive producer Spike revealed the news in a video message with his wife Tonya Lewis, his co-executive producer on three episodes, which he posted to Instagram on New Year’s Day (01Jan18).

“Happy New Year’s. Spike and I wanted to wish you a happy new year!” she said, before he added, “And there’s going to be a second season of She’s Gotta Have It. Thank you, thank you, thank you. Happy New Year!” before clapping to the camera.

“Happy New Year. Happy Year. Great News For 2018,” he wrote in the caption.

She’s Gotta Have It stars DeWanda Wise as Nola Darling, a Brooklyn artist who juggles romantic relationships with three different men.
