**SPOILER ALERT** Fans outraged as Bridget Jones loses her Mr. Darcy

Bridget Jones fans have reacted with outrage to the news author Helen Fielding has made her unlucky-in-love heroine a widow in her latest novel. Mark Darcy, played by Colin Firth on the big screen opposite Renee Zellweger as Jones, has been killed off in the upcoming Mad About The Boy, according to exclusive extracts printed in Britain’s Sunday Times.
In the book, Jones is a mum-of-two romancing a 30-year-old toyboy called Roxster – and readers are not happy that Fielding’s leading lady is single again.
In a post on Twitter.com, one fan writes, “One word for Helen Fielding: why?!” while another rants, “What the hell is helen fielding playing at in the next bridget jones book!?”
Fielding’s last volume, 1999’s Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason, ended happily with a marriage proposal from Darcy.
His cause of death is to be revealed in flashbacks in Mad About The Boy, set to hit shelves in October (13).
