When I go to a place, I check it out, I look around, and I go, ‘OK, is it cool for me to be here?’ And then as a gay person, I have to do the same thing. Until we have laws and until there is a strong presence that says, ‘Hey, this is not right, we’re not going to put up with it’, and it’s just taught down to the kids, then it’s not going to change.”
Openly gay Project Runway star Tim Gunn, who once considered committing suicide, adds, “I felt desperate enough that I wanted to end my own life. And I’m very lucky that my suicide attempt was not successful.”
