‘Peace in Baltimore,’ Cry Rihanna, Ne-Yo, Lorde, & More

Stars including RIHANNA, NE-YO, JOHN LEGEND and LORDE have joined calls for peace in Baltimore, Maryland amid fears the violent riots of Monday (27Apr15) will continue for a second day.

Protests erupted in the city over the death of 25-year-old Freddie Gray, who suffered fatal injuries in police custody last week (ends26Apr15), and angry citizens looted stores, set fires and clashed with cops.

Officials declared a state of emergency and imposed a week-long curfew, while an operation to clean up the town began on Tuesday (28Apr15).

Pop star Demi Lovato, who is in Asia on tour, writes, “Nobody wins in Baltimore… My heart is broken watching the news in Singapore right now. #prayersforbaltimore,” while Ne-Yo adds, “Stay strong, Baltimore.”

Other stars to speak out on the riots include actor Mark Ruffalo, rapper Eve, singer Janelle Monae, singer/actress Zendaya Coleman, rockers Gerard Way and Papa Roach, and hip-hop veteran Chuck D.
