An advert for the actor’s recent action movie The Mechanic, a remake of Michael Winner’s 1972 Charles Bronson thriller about a professional assassin, sparked a flurry of complaints after it was show on TV in the U.K.
Executives at Britain’s Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) have now ruled the footage, which showed a man’s head exploding in one particularly graphic scene, must be withdrawn from broadcast. They cited the clip’s “violent imagery” for the ban.
