Stephen Baldwin misses unlicensed driving court hearing

Actor Stephen Baldwin has dodged a legal bullet after failing to appear in court on Monday (16Jun14) to face unlicensed driving charges. The Usual Suspects star was due to appear in a New York court on aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle in the third degree and unlicensed driving charges stemming from an arrest last month (May14), but he was unable to attend the hearing because he was in Toronto, Canada on a contractually-obligated promotional tour for 2047 – Sights of Death.
His lawyer asked the judge overseeing the case to “stay” a bench warrant to allow his client “time to come in”, insisting Baldwin would be there on Wednesday (18Jun14).
Manhattan Criminal Court Judge Alexander Tisch granted Richard Southard’s request and ordered the actor to appear in court later this week, according to the New York Daily News.
