Steve Strange plots Visage comeback after three decades

British synth pop visionary Steve Strange has revamped influential new wave act Visage for the group’s first album in almost 30 years. The Fade to Grey hitmaker is hoping to return to the charts with his new album Hearts and Knives, insisting the project is a real blast from the past.
Strange tells Rolling Stone magazine, “The oldest synthesizers (I used on the album) are older than 1985. We wanted to keep that unique Visage sound, but we wanted to still be current, and basically bring it into 2013 with that fresh pop approach.”
The new Visage line-up includes bassist Steve Barnacle and former Ultravox guitarist Robin Simon, and one new age icon, David Bowie is a big fan – the veteran had a special message for his old pal Strange at the premiere of his recent Victoria and Albert Museum exhibition in London.
The Visage frontman reveals Bowie called up to wish him well: “He goes, ‘Hi London, it’s D.B. I just want to thank everybody for their enormous appreciation of this exhibition. Anyway, enough about me. Just want to let you know I’ve heard Hearts and Knives and I just want to wish you the best of luck.'”
